About

Who makes Cordelle

Salt Lake City, Utah

The short version

  • Cordelle is built and run by one person, Levi Johnson, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
  • The company is Fireside WiFi LLC, doing business as Cordelle. If that name is on an invoice or an app-store listing, it is us.
  • It exists because the printed packet is still the best thing a tour operator ships — and it stops working the moment a flight moves.
  • No background tracking, no bookings or payments, no selling of data. That is written into the privacy notice, not just this page.
  • Support is by email, from the person who wrote the software.

Who

Cordelle is made by Levi Johnson in Salt Lake City, Utah. There is no team page because there is no team: the person who answers [email protected] is the person who wrote the code, runs the servers and holds the only production login. That is an honest description of a small company, and the Data Processing Addendum says the same thing in more formal words.

The company

The legal entity is Fireside WiFi LLC, doing business as Cordelle, whose place of business is Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. You may see Fireside WiFi LLC on an invoice or as the publisher in an app store; you will see Cordelle everywhere else. Same company, one product. The Terms of Service name the entity in full.

Why it exists

Small group tours — motorcoach and escorted tours, bank travel clubs, church and alumni groups — are mostly run for travelers in their sixties and seventies, and the best product those operators ship is still the printed packet. It is also the thing that gets left in the hotel room, goes out of date the moment a flight moves, and cannot tell anyone the coach is leaving in ten minutes. An app only earns that job if it still works when the phone has no signal and the traveler has not bought a data plan.

Cordelle is the packet, on the traveler’s own phone, that keeps working when the signal stops: downloaded before departure, readable in a side street with roaming off, in type sized for the people actually holding the phone.

And it gives the guide — the one person who has to keep forty people together — a different app for that job: the roster with the care notes the office typed, a headcount that needs no signal, and one message to everyone with the names of whoever hasn’t read it. That part is described under guide mode.

What Cordelle deliberately does not do

  • No background tracking. Location sharing is off until a traveler turns it on, runs for a timed session, and expires by itself. The app never asks the phone for background location permission. It isn’t a setting we hid; it’s a thing we didn’t build.
  • No bookings, no payments. Cordelle does not sell seats, take deposits or hold a traveler’s card. Your booking system does that; Cordelle takes the roster it produces. Travelers never pay Cordelle anything.
  • No selling data, no advertising. Traveler data is used to run the trip and for nothing else — not sold, not used for ads, not used to train anything.
  • No accounts for travelers. A six-character code joins a trip. There is no password to forget and no email to verify.

All of that is written down where it counts, in the privacy notice and the Data Processing Addendum, and how the data is protected is on the security page.

Support

Support is email — [email protected] — read by a person, and this is what the two plans promise:

  • Pro: a reply by the next business day. Write on a working day and you hear back by the end of the next one.
  • Companion: best effort. Same address, same person, usually just as quick — but no promised turnaround, and Pro is answered first when both are waiting.

Business days are Monday to Friday in Mountain Time, excluding US public holidays. There is no phone line and no 24/7 rota; there is one person who would rather hear about a problem than not. The full wording is in § 11 of the Terms.

The app

The traveler and guide apps are one app, Cordelle Tour Companion, on both stores. Your travelers join with a code; your guides sign in with a guide code and a PIN of their own.

Want to see it before you talk to anyone? Join the demo tour with the code on the home page.

Contact

[email protected] — a person reads it, usually within a business day.

Rather talk? Ask for a call: send two or three times that suit you and we phone you. Security questions and reports have their own page: security at Cordelle.
