Packing lists and country guides

Two kinds of "before you go" content, with two different scopes on purpose. The packing list belongs to one departure, so it can be specific about these cobbles and these evenings. Country guides belong to your whole agency, so Portugal is written once and travels on every departure that goes there.

The packing list: one per departure

Open a departure and go to its Packing tab. The list is yours to write, line by line: each item has What to bring, an optional Heading that groups it with the rows around it (Clothing, Documents — whatever you like), and an optional Why. The why is worth writing: a guest who knows the palace approach is steep actually packs the flat shoes.

  1. Starting from nothing? Click Start from the sample list — 21 general-purpose lines in four groups, meant to be trimmed and made specific, not shipped as-is. Or click Add an item and build your own.
  2. Reorder with the ↑ and ↓ buttons. The order on your screen is exactly the order guests see, and a heading covers the run of rows beneath it. (If the same heading ends up in two places, the page warns you and offers to gather the rows together.)
  3. Watch the phone preview on the right — it paints the list in your own brand colors, exactly as a guest's phone will.
  4. Click Save packing list, then publish the departure when you are ready. The list travels inside the offline bundle, so a saved list reaches guests the next time you publish — and then reads fine with no signal.

Ticks stay on the traveler's phone. Guests check items off as they pack, and those ticks never leave their device. You will never see who has packed what — there is nothing to chase, and nothing for a guest to feel watched about.

Country guides: written once, attached anywhere

Country guides live at the agency level — they are a shared library, not part of any one departure. You will find them at the bottom of a departure's Logistics tab, under Country guides.

Each guide carries the practical facts a traveler wants offline:

How reuse actually works

  1. Click New country guide once per country, fill in the fields, and Save country guide. It now belongs to your agency's library.
  2. On any departure's Logistics tab, tick the checkbox next to each country that trip visits and click Save attached guides. Attaching is just a reference — the guide itself is not copied.
  3. Publish the departure. The attached guides go into its offline bundle.

Because attachment is a reference, editing a guide updates it everywhere it is attached. Correct the exchange rate once and every departure that uses that guide carries the new figure — each one the next time it is published, since guests only ever see published bundles. When you copy a departure for next season, its country-guide attachments are copied too; the guides themselves stay in the library, untouched. Deleting a departure never deletes a country guide.

Exchange rates do not update themselves. The rate is whatever you typed, stamped with the "rate set on" date you gave it — the app shows guests that date rather than pretending the number is live. A quick check of your country guides before each season's first publish is a good habit.

Where else this content shows up

Both the packing list and the attached country guides are printed in the paper packet — the packing list with real checkboxes, and the country guide with the emergency number set large. Paper and phone are composed from the same content, so they never disagree.
