Notifications

A notification is a heads-up on your phone when your guide sends the group a message — "the bus leaves at 2:00," "dinner moved to 7:30." Helpful, but never essential: every message is kept in the app whether the heads-up reaches you or not.

You never miss a message

Everything your guide or your tour company sends lands in the Inbox tab and stays there for the whole trip. If you miss the ping — phone in a bag, phone on silent, no signal at the time — the message is still waiting in the Inbox, marked as new. The Inbox tab shows a small badge with the number of messages you have not read yet.

So if notifications ever feel confusing, here is the simple habit that always works: open the app and tap Inbox. Everything is there, newest first.

Turning notifications on

When you first join your trip, the app asks one question — whether you want a heads-up when your guide sends a message — with two buttons: Yes, notify me and No thanks.

If you said no, or skipped past it, you can turn them on later:

  1. Open the Info tab and tap Settings.
  2. Find the App alerts card.
  3. Tap Turn on alerts. Your phone will show its own permission question — tap Allow.

Once they are on, the App alerts card keeps you informed with a plain status line: "Notifications: on."

If it says notifications are off

If the App alerts card says "Notifications: off — enable them for this app in your phone's Settings," it means your phone (not the app) is blocking them. To fix it:

  1. Open your phone's own Settings app.
  2. Find Notifications.
  3. Find Cordelle in the list of apps and switch notifications on.

The exact wording differs a little between iPhones and Android phones, but the path is the same: Settings, then Notifications, then this app.

Urgent messages

Occasionally a guide marks a message urgent — a real change of plan that everyone needs. Urgent messages appear in red in your Inbox with an URGENT label, and they stay prominent even after you have read them.

Turning notifications off

Use the same phone Settings path above and switch Cordelle's notifications off. The app respects it without complaint — and everything still arrives in the Inbox.
